#SPRING2013 #NYFW #RTW: MARC JACOBS, OSCAR DE LA RENTA & THE ROW.
While Style.com made a point to reference every 80’s movie, TV show and or band in their review of the Spring 2013 RTW Marc Jacobs collection, my personal favorites, looks 3 and 4, reminded me of none other than Hollywood icons Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. Surprising that my immediate connotation was not necessarily E.T. or Tootsie, yes. Of course the fabrics, colors and loose silhouettes were in fact references heavily drawn from the 80’s but there is something about the elegance of those looks that brought to mind the nautical fashions from Sabrina and High Society.
And my, those looks were yar…
Señor De La Renta never disappoints in creating elegant, feminine and romantic looks for the modern women however look 47 and 54 really stole the show. Both looks were exquisite and yet, somehow, were casually chic. It was just so effortlessly cool.
The Row continues to do what it does best- clean luxurious minimalism. However, one can absolutely spy Mary-Kate’s love for bohemian silhouettes. I’m curious to see if this trend of wearing a dress over trousers will translate from the runways to the streets. Personally, I am not a fan. It never quite looks the same.
